Rule #3 Staying Ahead of the Trends. On top of knowing what is happening today, if you want to be known as the local expert, you have to stay ahead of the trends and understand how they will impact client’s needs long term. This is easier said than done.
Rule #4 Specialization. Offer your clients something that they won’t get elsewhere. Select a particular industry where you have in-depth knowledge and establish that working with you adds real value to their decision making.
Rule #5 Work Ethic. In the end, there is no substitute for hard work. You can’t become an expert if you aren’t willing to put in the time.
